Troubleshooting

Facebook Marketplace notifications not working? What to check.

Three places a Marketplace notification can be switched off. Check them in this order. Steps are from Apple's, Google's and Facebook's own help pages, checked October 5, 2026.

1. Your phone's settings for the Facebook app

If the phone itself has notifications off for Facebook, nothing inside Facebook will fix it.

iPhone

  1. In the Settings app, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Facebook.
  3. Tap Notifications. If Notifications doesn't appear, the app might not be able to send notifications.
  4. Turn Allow Notifications on.

Android

  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Tap Notifications, then App notifications.
  3. Tap Facebook.
  4. Turn the app's notifications on.

Menu names vary by phone maker. Facebook's own page gives the path as Apps & notifications → Facebook → Notifications.

2. Facebook's own notification settings

Facebook sends push notifications when you're not in the app and in-app notifications when you are. You choose what you get notified about and how:

  1. Tap your profile picture, then Settings & privacy.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Notifications.
  4. Adjust how you get notifications and what you get notified about.

3. Marketplace's saved-search notifications

Marketplace has its own notification categories, and one of them is "saved searches". In the Facebook app:

  1. Tap Menu, then Marketplace. If you don't see Marketplace, tap See more.
  2. Tap Marketplace profile, then Settings.
  3. Tap Notifications.
  4. Tap the category (Facebook lists updates, saved searches and tips for sellers as examples) and use the toggle. Blue means on, gray means off.

Another option

If what you want is a buzz when a specific item is listed, Deal Scanner does that. Set a search once (the item, your city, how far you'd drive, your price range) and it watches Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp and Craigslist around the clock. Your phone buzzes when a match is listed, with a Deal Score that shows what the item normally sells for near you. Quiet hours and a daily digest are built in. It never asks for your Facebook login and never touches your account.

Plans

Every plan watches all three marketplaces at the same speed. Plans only differ in how many searches you run at once.
